one of my favorite tropes is when a character is talking in the foreground and something happens in the background that directly contradicts what they’re saying
foreground: character is talking about how they pride themselves on being a good parent
background: character’s 3 year old son starts a car and speeds off
i just want to stay up texting you until who knows when. i want to call you with good news and bad news, to see new places with you, to kiss you during movies, to fall asleep in your arms, to hold you when you cry, to be able to tell you i love you whenever i want, to take pictures of you genuinely smiling, to be your favorite person, to promise you forever and keep that promise.
Adulthood is literally just a cycle of spending every waking minute wishing you could go to bed until it’s actually time for bed and then it becomes the absolute LAST thing you want to do because going to bed is the thing that makes tomorrow happen and then you have to do it all over again
